Hey Enthusiasts! This episode we are back in Tasmania with Henry and Anna. The episode starts with a tearful reunion of their family and Annas dog. Doesn't take long for them to rush off and start cooking. Now apparently this once again is meant to be the episode a team gets kicked off... but we will see... I have a feeling we will still be waiting next episode.

Tonights menu is as follows:

Pete explains it well "comfort food" which is what we expect from Henry and Anna, lots of meat and traditional flavours. One thing we haven't seen from these two since their instant restrurant is their famous truffles, which featured heavily on their previous menu. As the two are setting up their table Henry explains that it isn't truffle season and they don't fruit all year round, therefore they are not only absent on their current menu but also absent from the table decorations.

Once they've finished setting up Anna moves straight onto her dessert prep, and straight away says that she has never made small portions of pavlova before (instead of one big one). Usually I'd be worried about a statement like this but these two seem to pull almost everything off.

Henry asks Anna to smell the pepper berries he has grounded up and Anna almost lands her ponytail in the morter and pestle but she just misses. I also see she's back in the heels tonight, something she struggled with last time, so lets see how long they last.

The contestants are on their way to the house and once again Sonya and Hadil are talking about beating last nights score with their eyes closed (snooze, tell us something new please) and Jess is excited because she's seen a 'moo cow'. Wow.

All the teams are wearing some variances of a plaid pattern. Jazzey gets a kiss on the cheek in slow motion from Henry and I feel like it has made her whole year.

The teams begin with a debrief of Jess and Emma's experience, they are saying it is nothing like the first round. Sonya straight away starts attacking them saying they were fine in the first round so they'll be fine now with Jess explaining that they're trying to say it's another level on that and then states that it isn't worth her time fighting with her (good girl). So far I'm still unsure if we will see Sonya and Hadil cook, and if we do see them I can only guess that they'll be last (where they usually make the 'villains' cook) so we will keep hearing the same argument over and over again.

The judges arrive and Manu is also wearing plaid, in tie form. Henry informs everyone that there will be no truffles tonight and Manu pretends to excuse himself from the table. The table expresses that it is a simple menu but it's okay because that's what Henry and Anna do best. Personally this is the type of food I want to see on my kitchen rules, something that will inspire me to get into the kitchen and have a crack at myself.

The tarts for the entree gets pulled out the oven as soon as they're back in the kitchen and they are slightly over cooked, but hopefully the filling can mask some of it. Time flies by and Henry hasn't rested his kangaroo long enough. Blood is running into his pepperberry sauce but if that's the worst thing to happen in the kitchen then they'll be in for a smooth night. The tart is presented beautifully though.

Pete asks how they went and Henry replies "Presentation was a bit how ya goin' " to which Pete says "Sounds like you've been around Jazzey" and laughter bursts out with Henry going red. The Kangaroo was cooked well but the pepperberry was lacking, and the flavours of the tart married well but the base let it down and Manu explains it went dry due to lack of butter. Not a terrible start to the night.

The other teams are starting to realise that it's easy to crack at the ultimates. Sonya states that the kangaroo wasn't very appealing at the table (a bit like her personality at the table?).

Mains are being prepared now and they're reducing the onion jam which already looks fairly thick so hopefully that's the right decision. Henry is in charge of cooking meat which is usually his role prioritising the lamb over the kitchen, which makes sense as he will have to rest the lamb, but also runs the risk of not cooking the chicken enough.

Discussion at the table turns to Valeria describing to the table how she used to kill chickens with an axe and holding them upside down to drain their blood and then tries to sweeten it by stating that she "also makes cupcakes!". Stella and Jazzey state they wouldn't cross her due to her axe skills which I think is a wise decision.

Henry moves outside to BBQ the chicken due to the large portions he needs. This might speed up the cooking so he might be looking okay. Back at the table there's a slight arguement between what type of chicken they want with Sonya stating chicken breast is what you expect at a wedding and she doesn't want that, whereas Emma wants a breast that isn't dry.

Plating goes better this time and the meals are quickly out at the table. Straight away Jess and Emma notice that it is a chicken thigh but aren't too phased in the end as it looks good. The potatoes with the chicken look amazingly soft and I just want to grab a bowl of them off the tv. Manu is loving the chicken as it is moist, crispy and well seasoned with a good sauce but wanted chunks of mushrooms. Pete said the presentation of the chicken looked better because his lamb was missing a sauce, and the onion jam didn't cut it but overall it was a good dish as well.

Hadil straight away "it didn't wow me", she had the chicken and both her and Sonya agree "it's not enough". Just like in the first instant restaurant round Henry and Anna have an interruption this time it is Stella and Jazzey to help clean up the table, basically an attempt to sneak in some flirting. Such a distraction girls, please go back to your seats. Anna then tells Jazzey to go find Henrys bedroom. Like last time, Henry is a bit flustered and needs a little bit of time to refocus.

Back at the table Sonya and Hadil start stirring the pot saying they will plan better and work harder than Jess and Emma, who obviously take offence. Jess gives some good advice and tells her to hold her tongue. Emma asks "Why do you think I don't work hard?" and Hadil replies "When you can cook as good as us, talk." (flicking her hair constantly). Jess bursts into laughter, Hadil throws another dagger and says "I'd be quiet as you got 52 so please". Now it's fine to say those sort of comments, but wait until after you beat them in the round... Emma straight away backs up my thoughts "your score hasn't come out yet" and Hadil replies "it'll be 52 with my eyes closed". Maybe she forgets the whole table also has to score her and her foul attitude is not pleasing anyone. Then she pulls out the big one "Get to our level darling, you may be a princess but we're the queens" (sigh). Emma responds "Don't be a smartarse calling me a princess when I know I am" has me cheering, but then Hadil wipes my short lived smile off my face by saying "alright blowfish". Yep. Hmmm, are they going to be on sunrise again crying "bad editing" again? You can't edit someone calling another a blowfish. Jess steps in for her sister telling her "don't go there" Hadil starts swearing and then Pete finally enters by asking for some respect and Manu asking them not to fight and instead talk about food. Okay, moving on.

In the kitchen the desserts so far is looking well. The curd has set in the lemon tart, a berry compote is being created. The pavlova is looking dry so they're trying to mask it with Henry brushing cream on top and carefully placing strawberries. I've never had a bad pavlova and the crust is my favourite part, if anything it'll be a dry meringue but even then that still tastes good yeah? I guess we will see.

(Source: Seven)

Judges kick in and Pete is first with the pavlova. He says the crust was good but the inside was hollow, the rhubarb was on point though. Manu asks who's recipe the tart belongs to... Anna reluctantly says "mine" to which Manu says "Perfection".

Valeria states the pavlova dish worked due to the flavours. Everyone enjoyed the lemon tart especially finally seeing good pastry for the night. Sonya and Hadil state that the pav was the least favourite dish of the night but they'll still beat Jess and Emma by a landslide just to take one more dig at them.

During the scoring Jazzey gives another funny line "Obviously it's not over for me, I'll probably be staying the night" yes girl keep those magazines happy. Overall the teams gave around the 7 mark and combined they gave 48, almost beating Jess and Emma's entire score.

Pete: Entree (kangaroo) 6, main (lamb) 5, dessert (pavlova) 3.

Manu: Entree (tart) 6, main (chicken) 8, dessert (lemon tart) 10.

First ten of the ultimates! Combined total score is 86. Places them on top the leaderboard.

Catch you tomorrow for the next episode with Kim and Suong cooking.

xx
