I haven't written a post on the season premiere but if you would like one, please comment below and I'll make it happen.

Hello fellow enthusiasts! Last night we were up for round 2 of the Blind Auditions. Round 1 was alright but I always seem disappointed when there's a coach without any contestants, but I mean Boy George wasn't really pulling any tricks out the bag to win them either. Anyway, tonight looked promising for him.

Jake Nicholls (Source: Nine)

First up we had Jake. Straight away we know he is getting though as he had a back story filmed at home. This is always a giveaway, and has been since the start of these singing shows. I mean why would they bother sending a crew to your home if they won't be able to use the footage for more than one episode? He starts singing James Arthurs "You're nobody til somebody loves you". Straight away Joe turns his chair, without barely hearing Jake breathe. Maybe I've only noticed it with this audition... I mean they normally have timed lighting but I feel like they had so much going on here just for an audition... lights flicking everywhere, it was quite honestly as a viewer, very distracting from watching him perform. I reckon the judges would have seen some of that with their chairs unturned too.

Anyway all four coaches ended up turning around... no surprises there. If the contestant is good they almost always ALL turn the first few episodes until their teams get fuller. Jake says he is from Melbourne but has a bit of an interesting accent. I almost thought he said he started playing guitar at the age of 30 instead of 13. Boy George rambles on about being unique and how he classes himself as 'Me-nique'. Delta is quite honest and says he is nothing outstanding but she wants to work with him. Joe dropped the phrase of having only 'non-musicians' on his team so far and would love Jake... to which Boy George and Kelly chime in stating that they're musicians because they have learnt and play their voice... Notice Delta sitting quietly at this point as she herself is a musician famously playing the piano in most of her performances. Kelly in the end gets Jakes choice and I think they are well suited.

Next up we have Somer. She is singing "His Eye is on the Sparrow" by Lauryn Hill. Beautiful pleasant voice. Once again they all turn. Can't wait till later in the blinds when we see coaches go head to head, 1vs1 for a contestant. They keep showing her Dad crying backstage which is beautiful and it reminds me of what my Dad would be like. Delta's plea mentions making Somer work to which Boy George rants about how she doesn't have to work as her voice is already there and how he became a singer because he didn't want to work. Mmmmmmkay, don't know if you've seen the other six seasons of The Voice AU but even those who have worked hard, still aren't chart toppers, so unless Somer does something incredible I believe she is going to have to work. ALSO BG then FOLLOWS THIS UP BY SAYING HE COULD TEACH HER... But wasn't she perfect a minute ago? She ended up also going with Kelly, which to me was a mistake, she was more suited for Delta.

They then showed the WHOLE BACKSTORY for Ben from the Ten Tenors, (once again already confirming he has gotten through) him talking about his kids, showing him serve food at a cafe him and his mother own etc. after that then don't show his performance... oh no, that's for later according to Sonia.

So instead they skip to Emily. Straight away I know she isn't going through... she's here to prove that her being loud at school is going to pay off. Basically she's a brat. As confirmed by her mother she's loud and wild. She also looks like she needs a hair brush. She gets up on stage and sings Gloria Gaynor's "I will Survive"... which hmm, not ideal. She almost loses her top throughout the performance and no one turns, but that's okay because Delta asks her to sing it all again. Look she wasn't terrible, but nothing special. Moving on..

Still no sign of Ben, with Jackson taking the stage. Multiple whistles from the crowd as he walks on which gets Kelly excited. He sings his own slow version of DNCE's "Toothbrush". You can tell Joe has no clue at the beginning that it's his song, with the coaches watching him for his reaction. Quite often the coaches do this, they just sit and watch who's song is being performed and don't turn their chair because they just expect that person to like it. Anyway, Joe and Delta both turned. Boy George made some comment about Joe not being the most attractive in the room anymore to which Kelly agreed by calling him "hot". Jackson then informs the coaches that he is 19 to which Kelly says "that puts me completely out of it", he replies "no it doesn't" as cocky as he could. Kelly loses it and mentions her husband and I want to vomit. He ends up picking Joe.

Back to Ben. Remember the one from the Ten Tenors? Even though he was talking about wanting his daughter to see him perform, only his mum has joined him. He is obviously singing opera and straight away Delta is singing along. All four turn for him. Boy George starts by expressing how much he loves the Italian language even though in the previous episode he was asking about whether or not he was speaking it correctly. Delta then points out she's had experience coaching opera singers before, to which BG points out he stole her competitor last season. Delta says that Ben sings a different type of Opera to which BG claims they're they same, obviously not noticing a difference, which insults Delta. She gets back to her point and Ben ends up picking her.

Now we have the performance that the promos were pushing. Basically the promo showed the Mum yelling, Delta looking terrified and the Mum storming onto the stage. What really happened was... the contestant Ashley going on about how she lives in the country and there not being much opportunity for her. She then starts singing "Redneck Woman"...lol. Deltas face says it all:

Not even the crowd was into it, no on participated when she wanted them to. No one turns for Ashley and she doesn't seem to mind as she is super happy. Delta has one thing to say to her "Love your shoes" (LOL) to which she replies "They're from ebay!" (double LOL). George then tells her to encourage the growl in her voice, to which I thought "Hmmm mistake telling her that if the promo is right"... Then comes the bit we were waiting for... Her Mum starts yelling back stage "Hit the button". The coaches can hear her and wonder what is being said. George then asks "Is that your mum?" and invites her on stage. Straight away George goes up and gives her a hug but not before saying "Don't knock me out", and that was basically it. Another promo playing up nothing into something. I've been recently watching X Factor and American Idol YouTube videos of parents losing it... So I was expecting more of that level D R A M A.

This leads to our last performer of the night. Not going to lie, it was the once I was looking forward to the most. George is still without a team and this is his last chance of the blinds round 2. Sheldon is into fashion and make-up and has some super supportive parents which I love. I was sitting on my couch holding my dog praying he could sing as I really wanted him to be apart of the show. He has bitten off a lot by singing "Do you Really want to Hurt me?" by The Culture Club, made famous by Boy George. Sheldon starts singing and BG turns. This almost brought a tear to my eye. All the judges ended up turning and Sheldon breaks down on stage crying, which lead to me officially crying, as well as Delta. He mentions not normally getting accepted (due to his looks) and Delta comments "You're in the right home here" (Yesssss!) and then BG stated "Never, ever look for acceptance, take me as I am... That should be your motto", first time tonight I am agreeing wholeheartedly with him! Sheldon is good with the banter, slightly flirtatious and he picks Boy George, which I can't wait to see play out, hopefully for a long time throughout the season.

Overall, so far a couple promising performers. And tonight we're meant to see BG and Kelly kick off. Catch you for my recap tomorrow.

xx
